Tai Seng, formerly called Charn Mau Hern (which means “lemongrass farm” in Teochew), was once a thriving community and is now an industrial estate for several enterprises in Singapore. Tai Seng got its name from an investment made by Ang Young Huat in the late 1910s; he called the resulting rubber plantation the Tai Seng Rubber Factory. Tai Seng’s residents, however, were evacuated to Dacheng Lane in the 1970s to make way for new factories. The ancient Hong San temple is all that remains in Tai Seng Village today.

There are now a plethora of services available in the center of Tai Seng Industrial Estate, thanks to the proliferation of food courts, retail stores, florists, and a nearby MRT station.
