When flowers especially roses are dry, they take up this classic and vintage look. Hanging them on doors or window sills to dry, adds an exceptional touch to house. You can also choose to place them in a vase after reducing the length of the stems. This will help to add color to some part of your home where you can’t keep fresh flowers i.e. window-less area and shelves.

2.  Infuse into oil for tinted lip balm

This is an easy and quick way to reuse flowers. You can leave them to dry naturally or on low heat in the oven. Pour 3 tablespoonful of your favorite oil into a small pot. Add dried flowers. Place the pot on a stove and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Strain the oil or leave it to continue infusing overnight. Heat 1 tablespoonful of beeswax with the infused oil. Let it cool a bit and pour into small tubes or containers.

3.  Make DIY wreath

Do you need a wreath for the holidays? Repurpose your flowers and make your own wreath with floral foam. Place it in a sink to make it soaked with water. If you want to hang the wreath, add a ribbon to the foam. This is not necessary if you want to use it as a center-piece on the table. Cut the flowers stem to about 5 cm. Insert the flowers into the soaked foam till the wreath looks full.

4.  Bake them to make potpourri

Flowers have an amazing smell which makes it perfect to use for potpourri. Start by drying the flowers on a baking paper in the oven. Mix your best essential oil with water and spray on the flowers. Let it get a bit brittle but be careful not to burn it. Take out of the oven and pour the dry flowers in a bowl or basket. Spray more essential oil spritz on it. Relax and enjoy the nice smell of potpourri in your home.

5.  Customize gifts with pressed flowers

If you can’t seem to find how to add personal touches to your shelves and walls, you should consider framing flower bouquet. Especially when the flowers came from your lover or to serve as a reminder of an amazing night out with your special one.

Pressing is an easy way to preserve flowers or fused into handcrafted gifts. Clean the blossoms with a cloth to remove dirt. Arrange them separately inside a heavy book and close it. You can add some additional load on the closed book. Your customized design is a great idea to go on plain paper. Other uses for pressed flowers include invitation, greeting and thank you cards, bookmarks etc.

Floral bath treats are straightforward and fun to make. Bath bombs will make your bath time relaxing and sweet while nourishing your skin with minerals.  Mix 1/2 cup of Epsom salt and citric acid with a cup of baking soda in a bowl.

Add 3 tablespoonful of olive oil and few drops of essential oil. Pour one cup of dried flowers into the bowl. Mix with a spatula. Press the mixture into bath bomb molds. Voila, relax as the bath bomb fizzes in the bath and release the flower petals into the water.

Furthermore, you can also make soap. No fancy equipment needed, other than soap mold and dried flowers. Just buy a melt and pour soap base. Pour into a soap mold and add dry flower petals to it. Leave it for a few hours to set. Surprise your loved ones with this pamper goodies for the holidays.

You can do this in 2 different ways. The first way is to use melted candle wax. Use a brush to apply a light wax coating to a candle. Press dry pressed flowers on the candle and apply few layers of wax on the flowers.

The second way involves using melting the candle. Put a few dried flowers in a small glass container. Pour the melted wax into the bowl. Don’t forget to add a wick. Let the candle solidify for few hours before use. There you go, your very own scented candles!

9.  Make surface and carpet cleaner

To make a surface cleaner, blend 1 cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of flowers and 1 tablespoon of salt. Likewise, you can make carpet cleaner with ¼ cup of cornstarch, ¼ cup of dried flower and ¾ cup of baking soda. Just sprinkle on the carpet and vacuum after half an hour.

10. Freshen your home or car with DIY mist

Did you know that you can extract scent from flowers? You just have to do some sort of distillation in your kitchen. Pluck the petals and rinse it. Add water into a pot. Pour the petals into it. Place a smaller bowl into the pot. Ensure that the water and petals surround it but do not get inside. Place the lid on the pot upside down. Leave the pot on the stove to simmer. Once steam starts condensing on the lid. Put ice cubes on it. This will enable the steam to become water droplets that will go into the small bowl. After an hour, pour the liquid from the small bowl into a clean sterile bottle. Add preservative to make it last longer. You can spray this in your home to freshen things up.

These are just a few of the endless ways that you can reuse and recycle your flowers instead of throwing them away. Set your creative side free and you will be surprised at what you can make.
