It shows more of how much admiration and adoration you have toward someone when you give out a light red carnation. On the contrary, the dark red carnation is more intense, they also profound love and affection towards someone when you give out a dark red carnation.

The pink carnations: as earlier stated are the ones that were believed to have bloomed from Mary’s tears. They symbolize motherly love and fondness. Ever since then, the pink colour has been set aside to mean a protective motherly love. The pink carnation also could be light pink carnation or dark pink carnation with different meanings but closely related. When the light pink carnation is presented, they express motherly love and can also express gratitude, while on the other hand,  the dark pink carnation is presented to express tenderness and fondness.

The white coloured carnation: it symbolizes purity. Generally, white signifies purity. When you present a white carnation to someone, you are indirectly conveying a message of pure love and wishing the person prosperity. The white carnation can also be used to pass a message of wishing someone good luck. They can be given to an elderly person on their birthdays, or to people who are about to start something new in their lives.

The purple carnation: it is really warming to the heart,  as they can be given to someone to offer condolence. Many times people see the purple carnation as a flower for sad moments in life. The purple carnation can also be used to seek an apology from someone you may have offended.

The yellow carnation: this is a flower you do not want to receive from anyone as it conveys a message of disappointment. Although this flower is beautiful still people do not want to receive it, clearly because of the meaning attached to it. The yellow carnation sends a negative message of rejection or could be presented to someone you dislike or want to break up with.
